It will take a ‘massive effort’ to reach the PM’s 70 per cent vaccination target
AMA NSW Chair Dr Michael Bonning says it will take a “massive effort” for Australia to reach the Prime Minister’s target of having 70 per cent of the eligible population vaccinated. Mr Morrison has confirmed there will be “special rules” which apply to vaccinated persons after 70 per cent of Australia’s eligible population is inoculated and the country moves to Phase B of the roadmap out of the pandemic. “We have good models of that from overseas to see what it looks like when you start reaching higher and higher vaccine numbers," Dr Bonning told Sky News Australia. “Now overseas we still haven’t seen those numbers yet of 70 per cent of your eligible population vaccinated that the PM is looking for so it’s going to take a massive effort. “But it’s also going to take an effort that relies upon people being motivated to do this. “Not just motivated by what’s going on overseas or the GP contacting them, but actually by getting out there and saying I need to find somewhere to get vaccinated.”
