Aged care crisis clogs hospitals
Thousands of patients in public hospitals are unable to be discharged into aged care or disabled facilities. The Australian Medical Association has warned the aged care crisis is clogging hospitals. About 10 per cent of patients have been waiting more than 35 days to be discharged into facilities. The issue is costing the health system up to two billion dollars a year.
