New prostate cancer drug available in Australia
Australian men battling advanced prostate cancer will now be able to access a new drug. Darolutamide is taken as a tablet twice a day and has been approved for use with chemotherapy and a hormone therapy injection. It starves cancer cells of the hormones they need to grow and divide. There are calls for darolutamide to be listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme as it will cost patients $40,000 a year.
