A million extra GP visits needed to fill vape prescription reforms
Around half a million Australians are expected to seek out prescriptions for nicotine vapes each year. Data from the health department suggests the move could lead to as many as one million extra GP visits each year. Some experts worry young people could turn to tobacco if the new regime is too inconvenient. New legislation by the Albanese government from January 1 had banned the sale and import of nicotine vapes. It comes as one in five 18 to 25-year-olds are becoming hooked, leading to a nicotine addiction.
